Shinn is tall and slender, have cold pointed green eyes. He has a tan complexion and rather sharp, pointed features. Standing tall at 165 cm and weighing in at 54 kilograms, Shinn is normal in terms of height and weight. His hair is jet black and spiky, giving him a messy look. He has a habit of picking up tree branches to bite on it to satisfy his habit of chewing things.
Shinn's facial expression changes a lot as he is often seen in different mood, though he is unable to express himself. This makes him easy to read, whether he is angry or sad, without him saying a word. He uses his looks to his advantage as he often intimidate his victims when bullying, making them feel fear while just making eye contact. His green eyes would often brighten up whenever he is having a good time such as having fun battling or making fun of his opponent, such as calling them names.

Arrogant
Shinn regards himself as a genius, with self-confidence that borders on arrogance. A strong desire to control or dominate their environment as well as other people, leading him to bullying others.
Playful
Shinn has a habit of making fun of other ninjas by calling them things other than their names. He likes to have fun in a battle but is serious when life and death is concerned.
Lazy
Though he often shows that he is someone who likes violence, he is mostly peace loving. He can be seen lying around on the branches of the trees, taking a nap or watch the clouds go by, even ignoring cries for help. However, when the situation calls for it, typically when someone dear to him is in trouble, Shinn can be very serious, and will instantly come to their aid.
Determination
Fearless, belligerent and extremely confident, Shinn possesses a fierce determination, always confident he can complete a given task with relative ease. In spite of the setbacks he has had to face, Shinn displays a great deal of tenacity and determination that carry him through and help reciprocate for his other failings.

Shinn was born into the household and was taught by his parents that he must never lie, steal and fight. Though his family was poor, they manage to live by with simple jobs and food as they would not resort to underhand means in order to feed themselves. Because of this, Shinn was often bullied by the richer children. “Why am I born in this lousy family? Why weren't I born from some rich house where I can eat anything and wear anything I want.” This thought had always been in Shinn's mind as he thought of running away but his loves for his parents stopped him as he did not want to leave them.
The bullies went too far as he insulted his parents. Shinn decided to break his promise of not fighting as he beats up the bully. From that day onwards, Shinn began forming up a group of poor children like himself as he began bullying the richer kids, extorting and stealing. His determination led to his arrogance as his confidence rose. He even regards himself as a genius. He became the robin hood of his town as they nicknamed him the Porcupine. Named after his surname as he was the poor boy who fought back. As he become more infamous, he realizes he needed to become stronger to continue his bullying acts as he joined the academy, which is also a way of earning money for his beloved family.
