Ryu's aura eminates from the crystalized chakra held in the stomach of her body. After she gave birth, she gave off a special chakra, which seemed to control her aura. The aura is the living spirit inside everyone, which Ryu can take a piece of someone's aura after death, and can make a puppet based on their aura. Ryu's aura seemed to make her a certain, special fighter, able to control her movements swiftly, to make her not flinch, but when the aura gives off to strong, it can cause her to use too much, to handle an aura made blade, but immediately becomes unconcious as a cost for 24-72 hours.
