a suprising meeting (Hito and Mai ONLY)

Hitogoroshi had started his nightly training. He had set up several traps in the clearing both hidden and visible. His training was memorizing every single one while going through it several times: avoiding, blocking and passing. In which he was doing just that. His newly washed and clothed body was harder to control than last time. His skinny limbs much longer and as tall as a 16 year old person instead of his 5 year old body he was more used to. He started at 10pm and he continued until 10am so he could medicate himself. He sat on a rock quietly while taking out the syringe, as he did so, he noticed some of the foliage moving on the other side of the clearing. The bright light catching his black eyes.

Maikeru had just gotten to the mist recently, and was suprised to find someone already using the field he was going to use for training. He hid so he could walk away without attracting attention, but apparantly he wasnt that great at it, for the Person was looking in his direction with a somewhat bemused look on his face. So he stood up, his falcon Streak visible on his shoulder, and waved at the person to show he wasn't here for any malicious reasons, then slowly walked toward him. He had never seen this person before, but he felt that something was very familiar about him...

Hito's eyes widened with supprise, unable to give any other emotion other than with his eyes. There was a small smile coming from his mouth, which was very unfamiliar to this new skin. His skinny body got up and walked quickly through the scores of traps that he had set himself and stood next to Maikeru. He was over a head taller than him now. Hito crouched down and pulled out his pet Gravy. " You sure he won't eat him? I think Streak is large enough to do so." His voice was no longer crackly with electro-magnetic static. It was clear and calm.

Maiku was incredibly suprised to see Gravy. Hito must have gotten some upgrades since their last meeting, he was now much taller, and his body looked much more well made. He smiled.

"Of course not, he may have gotten bigger, but Streak still only eats small mice and other rodents, although he never says no to some jerky."

Maiku put his hand up to Streak, who carefully jumped on his arm. Maiku then sharply lifted his arm, and Streak started flying around the clearing, obviously looking for something to hunt. Maiku then turned back to Hito.

"So whats with this new look? You get upgraded?"

Hito nodded. " The last time you saw me, I hadn't had an upgrade for 6 years so due to my forgetfulness, they made me 6 years older than I really am." His eyes shifted to the clearing and then back to Maikeru. " Hold on." Hito took out a kunai and cut one of the wires 3 inches in front of maikeru's face. Hidden by the reflecting light.

As soon as that thread was gone, it created a chain reaction with the rest of the traps. Scores of kunai, deactivated bomb toys and wires fell from almost everywhere in the clearing, making it look more like a junkyard that a training area. Hito turned back and smiled like he always did. " So when do you get an upgrade?"

For a while Maikeru just stood their stunned, he had come that close to touching that wire and setting all that off. Finally he collected his nerves and said:

"Well, um, living people dont get upgrades. They grow. I know you dont know much about biology, but lets just say the body has a way of Improving itself and making it self grow. It has to do with cells, which are tiny sacks of living parts that make up everything thats alive. Plants have cells, and Animals do as well. Many refer to them as the Building Blocks of life. Its kind of hard to explain how though. Anyways, hows life in the Mist?"

Hito absorbed the information as if it was food. He thought about the sacks and smiled. " sort of like the linking atoms in metal and how all of the parts go together perfectly, right? Though it must take trial and error for a long time to make it work perfect..." Hito's simple eyes roved over Maikeru's face to wait for approval, then rememberd that the syringe was still in his right hand. He took the silver handle and stuck the large needle into the base of the back of his head. the pale liquid emptying from the syringe into his body.

Maikeru tried to ignore the syringe.

"Well yes and no. Although the Cells of a body are very similar to atoms, they are a little more complex. Like an atom having protons, nuetrons, and electrons, cells have a variety of minature organs in them called organettes that do different functions. Besides, it doesnt take any trial and error because this is the way we just naturally are. Part of a cell that is most important is DNA which determines how tall we are, how thin, our hair color, our eyecolor, everthing about us physically. This DNA not only determines how we look, but is neccisary to our growth, as it is nessisary in determining the specific job of a cell, which allows it to divide. When a cell divides, the DNA is seperated and copied, allowing one cell's worth of DNA to become two cell's worth. This extra DNA allows the Cell to divide, becoming two Cells. This is constantly happening. As new cells are made, they take up more space, which causes living things to grow. The reason we do it so slowly is because of how small cells are. So its not that Ive had an upgrade, its that we have been apart long enough for me to grow enough for you to notice a difference. Thats all."

Maikeru took a few quick breaths and waited for Hito to reply.

Hito sat down and put away the syringe, sitting down on the dirt. He understood that atomic structures make up an atom, an atom makes up a molecule and a molecule is what makes matterl, but there was another factor: cells are a type of living molecule that makes up living things such as plants and animals.Hito then understood that the distribution of energy from plants, animals, and then back to plants. What he didn't understand was that why doesn't the human factor fit into this perfect circle. " Everything is perfect, but humans change their surroundings to suit their own needs, which hurts the rest of the circle." Hito's eyes was shining, picturing the co-existing eco-system without the human race. " Why do they live if they dont give back the energy they've taken?"

Hito had a good point.

"Because humans often belive that everything around them is to be used for their own needs. They are smart enough to not only survive, but survive with energy to spare. They often find ways to live with little effort on their part, regardless of how much damage they do to everyone else. This gives them a rather large life span, meaning they use much more energy then they give back to the environment when they die. They cut down trees for houses, and dont plant knew ones in their place. They mine too many minerals to make weapons and tools. They are greedy and lustful."

Maikeru sighed.

"Thats why i use water jutsu. When im done using the jutsu, the water goes strait back to the earth, with very little waste. But many people just use what they want to use, with no concern for replacing it. Ive always done what i can to keep things in balance, but many people are too greedy or too stupid to realize or care about how they are hurting stuff around them. Although the number of people not like that are increasing, there are still too many that are. Im glad that you can survive on a few injections, not taking much or using much, but normal humans arent built that way, because most humans arent built."

Maikeru sighed again.

"There isnt much we can do about them, but im trying to understand as much as i can so as to keep what is called a "Carbon Footprint" which is basically a term meaning our impact on the world as small as possible, without driving myself to ruin. I just wish more people did that too.'

And with that Maikeru was silent for a while.

(WOW we really need to get less phylisophical in these things, you ask hard questions to answer.)

Hito smiled and looked around. " Well, the Willows look over humans warfare...maybe i should look over their energy consumption." Hito took out his trail mix and took out some seeds. He knew that seeds only had a few years to live before they bloomed into plants with the soil helping. Hito looked at the ones that couldnt give plant life and the one that could, he made a small pocket in the ground and poured them in, placing earth over them until they were ready. All of this emphasized his small words.

Maiku watched Hito plant some seeds, then decided to help. He used his chakra to gather some water into a small disk, then floated it over the seeds and let it drop, watering the seeds. He then took an apple from his pack, cut it in half *although making sure one half was larger than the other to keep the seeds inside intact, took out the seeds, put them in the ground, using a little water to push them deep, and watered them as well. He then took the smaller half of the apple and gave it to Gravy to eat, then started eating the rest. If only people did this everytime they ate an apple, there would soon be enough apple trees to provide a large harvest. He then looked at Hito and said

"I really like how your so caring, no wonder animals like Gravy warm up to you."

Hito petted the fat possum. " I have no need to not like animals. They help humans grow and when humans are killed or are unable to function, its their skin i have to take to be able to look like the human i used to be." Hito turned the apple so Gravy could get a better hold. " So in a sense, I owe it to them for giving me life and death." Hito smiled, brushing the dirt from his black pants. (so short)

"True, if only other humans could realize their part in it all. Oh well. At least i know of two people who care."

At this time Streak came back from hunting, still looking a little hungry. Maiku fished a small piece of jerky, the size of which he determined was "Snack" size, and gave it to him. Streak took it and flew off to a nearby branch to eat it. As he was eating it, Maikeru decided to do what he came here to do and train. He stood up.

"Well, I guess i should let you continue what you were doing when i got here. I wouldnt want to disturb your training. Im going to do the same and practice my chakra control."

He went up to a tree and walked up it surface. He found it somewhat hard to walk up it without a running start, and when he found it too hard to walk any farther up, he simply stayed at that hieght, found a nearby branch, and hung upside down on it, focusing his chakra to keep himself up there as long as possible...

Hito nodded and returned to the clearing and practiced jumping, rolling, blocking reaction time and back flips. It was extremely hard on the backflips because he still wasn't used to the body but after 2 tries he got it down. Using the titanium alloy into his bones, he balanced on the heel of both of his hands and did a handstand. His black coat wrinkling slightly. All of this was to break in his new body.

Maikeru's legs started hurting. He was expelling chakra too fast, and it was damaging his leg. He let go of the branch, then twisted in the air and landed on his feet. He then ran back up the tree to the spot he was before, and this time went to the side of the branch and stood horizontally. He didnt last as long, but he could feel himself getting a little bit better at chakra control, even if he had a long way to go. Again he let go of the branch, and again twisting to land on his feet. After a few short breaths, he focused his chakra to his feet, than ran much faster than he normally would, causing him to rocket up the tree to the top, where he planned to stay for as long as he could. Catching his breath, he looked down at Hito, who seemed to dance as he flipped and did a handstand...

Hito felt something cold and wet on his new skin that was being soaked into his clothes. It felt like being submerged in mild diluted jelly. His face dripped the liquid onto the dirt. It was completely clear, unlike jelly. He lowered his legs and stood upright, wiping his face to look at the new finding. It was sweat, the willow warned him of this stuff.

Flashback: Kamoku was eating to what looked like a human thigh while laughing. Blood spattering all over the man's face. " Remember, you will have to take care of this new skin for a few days till it dries out. You will experience minor pains and cuts on it, then you have to moisturize it with a special formula humans get from deer fat and seaweed. It's call Lotion. Make sure to rub that on your skin once avery 3 days for 6 days. After that, you only need to do that once every month. Sort of like oiling rusty hinges." Kam laughed and ripped off a chunk of meat, spraying blood in his vision. The mist making his periferals narrow.

Hito took a cloth and wiped the sweat away and turned toward Maikeru, he looked just as moist. He turned quickly, knowing that he might get hungry soon. He wished he knew more about the human diet. He looked around and saw a rabbit flashing by, thinking Hito was just apart of the foliage. He ran after it, compacting himself lower to the ground and making sure he didn't miss a beat. After several seconds he had caught it by the legs and he was holding it upside-down now. He jogged back to the clearing and started skinning it with the point of his finger. It wasn't sharp enough to impale but it was tempered enough to skin.

Hito placed the bleeding rabbit on the grass and started taking some reeds he had taken a while ago and started weaving to make a bowl. The exercise with his hands was good for him to get used to the pattern.

Eventually Maiku felt his chakra diminishing, and knew he would need a rest, so he used what was left to artfully slide down the trunk of the tree. When he got down, he saw that Hito had for some reason caught a rabbit, and seemed to be fashioning a bowl for it. He realized this must be one of the few times Hito had acutally eaten anything, and so he went and found some fallen sticks, and brought them over.

"It isnt good to eat raw meat. Here, let me cook it for you."

He laid the sticks in a pile and surrounded them by rocks to keep the fire from spreading. He took a match out of his pocket and lit the sticks on fire, then took out a pot he had in his pack. He put the rabbit in the pot (making sure to wash off his hands afterward) and added water. He found some Herbs growing, and added those as well. Finally he found some vegetables in the market, and when he came back, the stew was cooking nicely. Using a spoon to stir it, he started to cut the vegetables up, then tossed them in. After a while the vegetables had gotten soft, and the meat hand turned from a deep pink to a light brown, and Maiku took the bowl Hito had made, and spooned a lot of the stew into it. The stew suprisingly didnt leek from it. He then gave it to Hito.

"Here, this is a lot better for you."

Hito watched and reran it back in his mind so he was able to memorize the movements. He didn't mention that the rabbit was for Mai instead of himself. His stomach was replaced by a storage compartment instead of a ball of tissue filled with acidic juices. Hito watched the food and then imitated a sigh. He placed the bowl of stew in front of Maikeru, careful not to spill it on the ground. " I can't eat, but you might need to fill up and rest." His skin turned slightly pink from the steam coming from the stew, he was staring at the fire.

If fire absorbs the oxygen and replaces it with carbon, it becomes lighter and reaches the lithosphere and reverts back to oxygen because of the plants that abosorb that. The trees grow and it replaces the trees that were lost.

He looked at the rabbit and vegetables

I used a certain ammount of energy to meet the rabbit's energy in order to catch him. If i was able to eat, i could replace that energy and more in order to survive. I would then plant things and do other things that would help the enviornment along with cutting down vegetables in which can also be replaced.

Hito felt a bit uncomfortable in his black clothes due to the sweat that was now becoming more like a blanket of it. He walked over to the stream and layed down in it, careful to remove his trail mix and possum before soaking. He sank to the bottom of the river with the metal giving a certain weight. He looked from the bottom and tried to remember if he ever done this before. He soon gave up and thought how strange humans were. I was easier than memories, that's for sure.

Maikeru wasn't too suprised. If Hito couldn't eat before, why would he assume he could eat now. Oh well. As he started eating the Stew, Hito walked over to the river and sank down in it, making sure to move the possum and trail mix aside. Once the stew was finished, he walked over to the river and looked down in it. He could almost see Hito down there. As he watched Hito, he noticed how the currents were flowing. He had always liked watching water, and as the water moved, his focus seemed to fuzz, and he felt himself relax. He listened to the river as it washed past rocks, and swore he could almost hear Gravy's breathing. The world seemed utterly intune, and Maikeru liked it that way...

Hito had his mouth open and he was in a complete daze. The water enveloped him like a comfortable, cold glove. Though it didn't last long.Something quickfast and silver shot from his blindspot and into his open mouth, the feeling of something slimy and slippery gave him enough shock for him to leap from the river and onto the bank, the fish was wriggling like mad. Halfway down his throat. He immediately pulled it out and tossed it back into its breathing space. As he did so, he felt the weight of the clothes bring his skinny form down on the grassy clearing, emtying out the water from his throat like juice from a cup. " What in the world was that??" He asked Maikeru, ignoring the fact that he had looked totally and utterly ridiculous with a fish in his mouth.

Maikeru couldn't stop laughing. After a while he got his breath back.

"That was a fish. They are animals that swim in and breathe water. They aren't too incredibly smart, but they do make a good food. Most people spend days trying to catch one, and you just had one jump in your mouth."

Maikeru sighed and layed back.

"You probably should keep your mouth closed if you are gonna do that again. Who knows what fish will find your mouth interesting. By the way, how is it you can stay under water that long? I know your artificial, but don't you need to breathe?"

Hito shook his head. " All of my organs and living tissue died out a long time ago. I live only by injection of a certain medication." Hito sat down, dripping wet. His black hair covering his eyes like a theatrical curtain. " I dont need to breathe, eat, sleep, rest or feel." Hito was placing his hand over his mouth as he dislodged several scales from his vocal device and teeth. " Whatever damage is done to me does not effect my reliability." he mumbled, remembering the several times other kids mocked him about that.

"Thats actually kind of cool. You can stay underwater without having to breathe, you dont have to eat, or drink to stay alive. You probably don't even get tired. Plus any damage you recieve is easily repaired. The only thing not good about that is you dont get to eat delicious food, or drink a cool glass of lemonade on a hot day. Well I guess you are who you are."

Maikeru sat back up.

"Well its getting a little late, I need to go see the realtors how much an Apartmant will cost. I cant stay in a Hotel forever."

Maikeru stood up.

"Its been fun to see you again. I'll be sure to come back."

Maikeru slowly started to walk away from the Area, making sure to turn back and wave goodbye to Hito.

Hito waved goodbye and began to clean up. He took the stones and placed them in the water, he took the bowl and buried it along with the ashes from the meal. He took some wire from his compartment and hung the pot on a tree with large leaves for the lid.

After doing so, he took his clothes and layed them over some branches to dry. He placed his feet in the water as he waited for a few hours, then put them on and combed his now dry hair. He knew that he needed no hotel or apartment to live, it felt a bit sad that there was so many differences between him and the world. He wished that Netsu was in the Mist village instead of the Stone. That way she also knew that they wern't alone. Hito opened his coffin and placed the empty syringe in the compartment.

He picked up the stone casket and strapped it on his skinny back. After doing so, he began to ran. Planning to keep running until the sun comes back up and he could meet more humans.
