| Basic InfoName: Torasame Hoshigaki Nickname/Alias: Tora Age: 24 Gender: Male Height: 8'2" Weight: 423 lbs Important Family Members: Shirosame Hoshigaki, Former Mizukage General Appearance Basic looksLike all members of the Hoshigake Clan, Torasame has blue skin, round eyes, gill marks on his cheeks, sharpened teeth and more muscle than most people his age. On top of that, Torasame has long, shaggy dark blue hair and long fingernails. The shark used in his ritual was a tiger shark, and as such, he inherited its markings; dark spots and stripes mark his blue skin, but have begun to fade with his maturity. Preferred Wardrobe: His clothing is simple and practical. He wears the standard ninja sandals, and long pants that don’t inhibit movement. He wears ninja mesh as an undershirt, as well as a long sleeved jumper that hides his body. On top of this, he wears a long cloak that is black on the outside and a royal blue on the inside. Personality:- Loyal-
Tora’s prime personality trait is his loyalty. Though this does not always extend to authority figures, he does maintain fierce loyalty to members of the Hoshigaki clan, his direct family, and his friends. This loyalty does extend to his village, but personal loyalty is what matters most to Tora. It is his fatal flaw, the one chink in his armour his enemies can exploit.
- Determined-
Determined is another word to describe Tora. Once he sets himself onto a task, he won’t deviate from that task until it is completed. Generally he sets himself achievable goals to complete for each day. He doesn’t always fail these goals; unlike some people, he will never set himself a goal he knows he can’t achieve.
- Rogue-
Tora often goes against the ways of the Hoshigaki clan. While most of his shark brethren prefer to dwell in solitary amongst themselves, Tora seems to simply love people. The only member of the clan Tora still often talks to is his older brother Shirosame, and even then, it is often for some reprimand or another.
- Attacking Style: All Out and Direct-
Like all of the Hoshigaki Clan, Tora doesn’t bother with trickery and subterfuge. He prefers the upfront approach, leaving true ‘ninja’ skills to those that feel they are more practical. If you want someone to spy or assassinate, hire someone else. Now, if you want something busted up or someone killed upfront, Tora is your guy.
- Versatile-
Tora knows that versatility means survival in the ninja world. He doesn’t set himself into one single routine, and in battle he fights with a fusion of everything he knows, blending into a truly unique style.
- Infatuated-
While many of the Hoshigaki clan stick to themselves and are lonely individuals, Tora once confided in his love, Hybris Kaguya. The memories of their brief relationship have left him bitter towards her. Bloodline InformationKekkei Genkai: Hoshigaki Description:Members of the Hoshigaki Clan are perhaps most known for their shark-like appearance. The body, which is merged with a Shark's during a painful ritual, completely changes to accommodate the differences in the body. The first and most noticeable thing about the transition is the color of the skin. Members of the Hoshigaki Clan have skin that ranges from soft blue in color to a dark gray, dependent upon the type of shark that was used for the ritual transformation. Beyond that, the body also changes to take on a slimmer shape. A large amount of skin and muscle tissue becomes replaced with cartilage, making them odd to the touch. That being said, a large amount of muscle tissue is added to the body from the shark, too. At the neck, two lines of gills can be seen at the front, giving them the ability to breath underwater. The Hoshigaki's body is usually more bulky than the average, but from the appearance of tough muscle. Also very noticeable quite quickly is the increased rows of very sharp, fine teeth. The eyes are also a little more circular than the average person's, and they have a more defined nose. Beyond that, the clan has no true heirarchy or structure. They understand that it's a shark eat shark world, and there are few restrictions imposed upon the members of the clan by the other members of the clan, for the ritual itself comes with several restrictions that cannot be fought against. There is a singular symbol of authority within the Hoshigaki Clan, and those would be the Shark Priests. The Shark Priests are a small sect that rules over the religious aspects of the Shark Human's lives, deciding the actions that are best for the clan. It is only these Shark Priests that have access to the knowledge of the ritual that grants the impressive Shark powers. Those not born of the Shark Clan must find these Shark Priests to have them give the Ritual. Rank and Skill Information Village: Kirigakure no Sato Rank: Jounin Letter Rank: S Group affiliation: Legendary Swordsmen of the Mist Specialties:- Main: Ninjutsu
- Sub: Kenjutsu
- Combination: n/a
Advanced/Secondary Skills: Massive chakra amounts. Inhuman strength levels. WeaponsWeapon Name: Ushio-Waru (Rip – Tide) Description: Ushio-Waru, or the Rip-Tide blade is an ancient weapon, carved entirely of blue topaz. With its wavy design the sword truly is a masterpiece, and seems to conduct Suiton chakra, as it’ll glow blue in battle. As the blade is carved from stone the sword is very heavy, requiring a kenjutsu master to simply wield it. This blade was given to Torasame after he mastered Battojutsu and Iatojutsu, two techniques that revolves around drawing and sheathing the blade very quickly. THis particular model is a short sword, the blade itself being roughly two feet long. Weapon Name: Shiro (Fluffy) Description: Originally Shirosame's (Torasame's older brother) sword, Torasame now possesses it as a memento to his fallen sibling. While it's original name was "Fluffy", Tora renamed it "Shiro" in his brother's memory. The sword itself possesses no extraordinary aspects. It is simply really big, and really heavy. Fundamentally one would need to have the increased strength of a Hoshigaki in order to wield it, as the sword has a blade that is just shy of six feet and weighs nearly two-hundred pounds. Torasame will typically carry this massive weapon in straps, allowing it to hang from his back.

| Clan TechniquesSame no Gishiki (Ritual of the Shark) Imbuements- Spoiler:
Same no Seirei (Spirit of the Shark) Rank: “C” Rank Skill: Passive Effect: Dramatically increases the user’s chakra pool. Special: A passive ability that is always active. Must have had the Same no Gishiki put upon the body. Drawback: The user must start with this technique if taking the ritual upon birth. Chakra control remains unaffected. Description: One of the two Same no Isei, or Powers of the Shark, the Same no Seirei (Spirit of the Shark) allows the user to obtain a dramatically larger chakra pool than they would normally have. The amount that the chakra pool increases is dependent upon the user’s specialties and their Difficulty Class. Limit: Must have Same no Gishiki.
Samehada (Shark Skin) Rank: "C" Rank Skill: Ninjutsu Effect: Focuses chakra into the user's cartilage body, using it to dampen the impact of Taijutsu-based attacks. Special: Ox, Tiger, Snake, Dragon Drawback: Only lasts for five turns or five hits, whichever comes first. Only works against melee strikes. Description: The user's body, which has been altered by the Same no Gishiki, has gained a thin layer of cartilage underneath the user's blueish skin. The user, then, will learn how to use that cartilage in combination with their chakra in order to lessen the impact of melee strikes against them. When the user performs their handseals, channeling chakra into the thin layer underneath the skin, the cartilage there begins to act like a sponge, ready to cushion damage. When the user is hit, the sponge-like manner of the cartilage absorbs a portion of the damage, reducing the damage done to the user significantly. Limit: Must have Same no Gishiki.
Suichuu Binkatsu (Underwater Alacrity) Rank: "C" Rank Skill: Passive Effect: Allows the user to move underwater just as well as they would above it. Special: Passive ability that is always active. Drawback: N/A Description: The Hoshigake Clan are very much used to fighting underwater; their whole fighting style is based upon flooding the field and then forcing the opponent to fight underwater, where the user will have the advantage. Because of their constant fighting underwater, they've learned how to move and manipulate their own bodies while submerged, making them terrifyingly difficult opponents to match when they're in their element. This ability, once learned, allows the user to fight with grace and ease underwater, to the very point that it seems like they were fighting naturally above it. Limit: Must have Same no Gishiki.
Kowai Shiryoku (Frightening Eyesight) Rank: "C" Rank Skill: Passive Effect: Allows the user to have naturally enhanced eyesight in both the day and the night. Special: Passive ability that is always active. Drawback: As with all forms of enhanced senses, they are also more susceptible to their perspective weaknesses. Description: Sharks have amazing eyesight. Since they often swim the depths of the ocean, where it is dark and what little light that comes through the water is distorted, their ability to perceive minor changes is particularly excellent. Members of the clan learn to mimic these enhanced perceptions, able to peer through the darkest of night as if it were noon and the ability to notice subtle changes like the fluttering of a specific leaf in the wind. Limit: Must have Same no Gishiki.
Akuarungu (Aqualung) Rank: "C" Rank Skill: Passive Effect: Allows the user the capability of switching between the use of gills and lungs. Special: Passive ability that may be used at will. Drawback: If activated above ground, the user is capable of suffocating to death. Description: Normally, the Hoshigake's body is set to breath through the lungs, which takes in oxygen from the air and then allows the user to exhale. However, the Hoshigake's body has a secondary set of breathing tools- gills. By activating this technique, the user becomes capable of switching the manner in which their brain commands the body, moving to use the gills instead of the lungs. In this manner, it is impossible for the Hoshigake to drown as they are now using gills to breath. Limit: Must have Same no Gishiki.
Chi Kaori (Blood Scent) Rank: "C" Rank Skill: Passive Effect: Allows the user to use their sense of smell to hunt down opponents who have been injured. Special: The target must be bleeding. Drawback: Cannot tell differing scents apart. Description: After injuring an opponent, the Hoshigake will generally try to force an underwater fight by flooding the field or trapping someone with some other water-based techniques. However, that is not necessary, it just makes the hunt easier. The user is then capable of using their sense of smell to track the scent of the blood of the opponent, making it much more difficult to hide from them. Limit: Must have Same no Gishiki.
Dendou-Sacchi (Electric Sense) Rank: "A" Rank Skill: Passive Effect: Allows the user to sense micro-movements, including heart beats at certain ranges. Special: ~ Drawback: The user becomes more susceptible to Raiton attacks. Description: Many sharks have a biological trait known as the Ampullae of Lorenzini. These are actually glands which allow them to detect the electromagnetic fields generated by movements. These glands can detect voltages as low as one-billionth of a volt. As the Hoshigaki have garnished this ability, they too can sense movement around them. On land, this includes movement up to fifty meters away, and even heartbeats at twenty meters. Due to the conductive nature of water, when the Hoshigaki is in water, their range is boosted to one hundred meters, and fifty meters for any heartbeat. Limit: Must have Same no Gishiki. Must have used a shark that possesses the AMpullae of Lorenzini for the ritual. Other Clan Techniques- Spoiler:
Mizu no Kami (Water God) Rank: "B" Rank Skill: Clan Mastery Effect: Allows the user the ability to perform water based techniques as if their chakra cost was cut in half. Special: Passive, must have been a Hoshigaki for ten years or more. Drawback: Even though the chakra cost has been reduced the time spent performing the techniques remain the same. Defensive techniques that require the user to expend the same amount of chakra in order to block a technique are unaffected by this mastery. Description: There are few clans out there that can rival the Hoshigake when it comes to their use of Water-based Ninjutsu. Because of their constant use, individuals of the clan have developed a keen sense of how much chakra is truly necessary to perform the technique and as such may perform water-based ninjutsu as if the chakra cost of the technique were actually cut in half. However, just because the user can perform the technique for less of a cost doesn't mean that it takes any less time to perform them. Limit: Requires a total of ten years of being within the Hoshigaki clan.
Suiton: Suibun Shuuko no Jutsu (Water Release: Moisture Condensing Technique) Rank: B Skill: Ninjutsu, Supplementary Effect: Allows the user to condense water within the atmosphere for use in Water-based techniques. Special: The user adds "Tiger" to the end of every technique they wish to use this in association with. Drawback: The water that is drawn from this attack comes from the atmosphere itself. Unlike Oxyhydro Conversion, which is the combining of molecules in order to create water, this attack pulls the actual moisture out of the air and condenses it. Because of that, the ability is less effective in dry areas, sometimes not allowing enough water to be drawn for higher-level techniques. Description: A supplementary Ninjutsu ability that is combined with other Suiton (Water Release) abilities, the user will focus chakra into the atmosphere, pulling the moisture out of the air and condensing it into forming an attack. The user can only perform Suiton techniques this way up to a B rank level.. Since the technique is simply condensing the moisture in the atmosphere instead of creating the water, this technique is much more chakra efficient than Oxyhydro Conversion Limit: Water Release, Must be a member of the Hoshigake Clan.
Suiton: Sazanami no Jutsu (Water Release: Ripple Technique) Rank: C Skill: Ninjutsu Effect: Allows the user to imbue chakra within a source of water. Whenever something moves through it, the rippling will alert the user. Special: Dragon, Dog, Monkey, Tiger, Ram Drawback: Can only affect a small area. Description: The user will rapidly perform handseals, channelling chakra into a small portion of water, twenty meters in all directions from the user, whose distance can be increased through training. This effect lasts for five posts. Limit: Water Release. Must be a member of the Hoshigake Clan.
Tsuchi no Kuchiyose: Aquifer no Jutsu (Earth Summons: Aquifer Technique) Rank: B Skill: Ninjutsu, Supplementary Effect: Calls up water from the ground to act as a water source for Suiton techniques. Special: Boar, Rabbit, Horse, Dragon, Monkey, Snake, Rat, Ram. Ram can be held to cut the amount of time needed to call up the water in half. Drawback: Less effective in dry areas, thus less water is capable of being pulled from the ground. Can have dangerous effects on the area's life, as you are drawing on their surplus water supply. Description: Not an actual summoning technique, the name gains its inspiration for the way that the technique works. By channelling chakra into the ground, the user is capable of penetrating deeply into the earth and calling up water that is under the ground in tiny pockets called 'aquifers'. The technique draws up the water, taking from the surplus water of the area and bringing it above ground. Limit: Water Release. Must be a member of the Hoshigake Clan.
Suiton: Satsugai Naiou no Jutsu (Water Release: Killing Depths Technique) Rank: "A" Rank Skill: Ninjutsu, Supplementary Effect: Creates and fills a large crater of water where the user is currently standing. Special: "Hand Seals", hold Ram seal. Drawback: Takes two turns for the technique to work, during which the user must remain completely still. Use of this technique in dry areas can potentially cause long-term droughts. Description: A powerful technique that can be used in combination to fuel the Hoshigake's love for battling underwater. The technique is actually a two-pronged technique, combining the use of both the Earth and Water releases. Performing the correct handseals, the user will hold the Ram handseal, channeling chakra throughout the ground around him. The ground will then quickly begin to do two things; one, the ground around the user in a diameter of thirty meters will begin to sink downwards a total of twenty meters; two, the ground at the edge of the thirty meter radius will begin to move upwards for ten meters. This takes one turn to complete, creating a crater that is thirty meters deep at the highest part and thirty meters across. Then, the user will fill the crater using the aquifers below the ground, drawing up the natural water from the surrounding area. The filling of the basin takes an additional turn. When the technique is complete, the user will have created a large lake in which they can fight their opponent. Limit: Must know Tsuchi no Kuchiyose: Aquifer no Jutsu. Must have the Earth Release. Must be a member of the Hoshigake Clan.

Description: A powerful attacking Ninpou that utilizes the Suiton Element, Oshikiri Mizu Kasui builds off of the basis gained by the shinobi when they have learned Suiton: Baku Suishoha. By channeling a great amount of chakra into their gullet, they can then generate a large amount of water and, with proper direction, can release this chakra in a great wave. This technique builds upon these principles, gathering the chakra within the gullet. However, the release is executed differently. In this technique, the user continuously molds their chakra throughout the water being created, and pushes it outwards in a fast-moving, powerful stream of water that, while thin (no larger than the shape of the user's mouth), allows for the combination of speed of pressure to slice through powerful defenses. The slicing power of this technique is capable of penetrating up to "A" Rank defensive techniques. The user is capable of extending the water stream outwards a maximum distance of sixty meters from their location, and is also capable of continuing the water stream for a total of five posts. Due to the centralization of the technique, it is also possible to move while this technique is active, unlike that of Baku Suishoha. Limit: Water Release, Must know Baku Suishoha.

Description: A technique that is often utilized by masters of the Water Release against a strong attack from the opponent. The user, performing the required handseals, will then end the string on the Dragon seal, which they will hold. Their chakra will burst out around them converting oxygen and hydrogen in the air. In seconds a massive amount of water will begin to torrent itself around the user. This water begins to rapidly swirl into the shape of a regular water typhoon about five meters in diameter and ten meters in height, with the user in the central portion. The massive amounts of water, in combination with the rapid rotation of the waves, results in a powerful defensive technique that is capable of blocking "A" Rank or lower techniques. Beyond that, the water will almost immediately begin to spill into the surrounding areas, quickly filling up an area of up to forty meters around the user with up to five meters of water (in height from the ground). This all occurs within one turn. If the user removes the handseal before then, then the technique will end prematurely, with less amounts of water summoned. The water, imbued by the user's chakra, will remain in place for a total of five turns before simply spilling out into the environment. Limit: Water Release

Typically, the user is a better swimmer then his opponent, or simply better suited to the underwater environment. This technique makes it very easy to drown the enemy, as the dome moves, the user acting as it’s focal point. Limit: Water Release, Must know Baku Suishouha.
Suiton: Mizu Taiso no Jutsu (Water Release: Water Imperial Funeral) Rank: “S” Rank Skill: Ninjutsu, Offensive Effect: Rapidly increases water pressure of a body of water, crushing whatever is caught within it. Kyojinsame Genkotsu (The Megalodon Fist) The Kyojinsame Genkotsu, is a fighting style developped by and unique to Torasame Hoshigaki. Among his travels, Tora took note of a medic's ability to create levels of strength even greater then his own, a feat he had never before seen. Upon research, he discovered the secret behind their power, absolute chakra control, and in doing so, realized he could never hope to match it.
Or at least not in the same fashion. A Hoshigaki like Torasame did not possess the level of control necessary to create instantaneous releases of chakra. However, he did possess an unrivaled amount of chakra. This coupled with an already monstrous physique, lent itself in the creation of Kyojinsame Genkotsu, the Megalodon Fist.
World Shaking Rank: D Skill: Taijutsu Effect: Releasing a good amount of Chakra through either index finger, the user slams their finger into the earth below them and creates a five foot wide, twelve foot long and ten feet deep fissure. This is used to disrupt attacks that come at the user from head on. It could also be used as cover when there is no other way to evade. Special: None Drawback: None Description: Standing with the legs shoulder length apart, the user briefly gathers chakra into their index finger before leaning forward and slamming their finger into the ground causing a fissure to occur. Limit: Kyojinsame Genkotsu.
Jab Rank: D Skill: Taijutsu Effect: A simple chakra filled punch. Fairly quick but lacks some of the raw, destructive power of higher techniques. This is mainly used when Torasame does not have the space to wind up a fully powered strike. Can disorient some foes and usually sends them hurdling backwards. Special: None Drawback: None Description: Looks exactly like a normal punch, only filled with a quick burst of chakra. Still much more powerful than a normal punch, but realitively weak when compared to the rest of the techniques within the fighting style. Limit: Kyojinsame Genkotsu.
Punch Rank: D Skill: Taijutsu Effect: An upgraded version of Jab. Although this technique is slower than Jab, the difference in power between the two is immense. The user gathers a great amount of chakra into their fists and then releases it upon their opponent. Special: None Drawback: None Description: Similar to Jab only with a slower wind up and much more destructive power. This is an attack that can cause some serious damage to an opponent. Limit: Kyojinsame Genkotsu.
Haymaker Rank: C Skill: Taijutsu Effect: An overhead two fisted strike, this devastating attack usually knocks an opponent down into the ground, creating a crator with the opponents body. Special: None Drawback: Very slow due to the wind up but comes down rather quickly. Description: Gathering chakra into both of the users fists, the user strikes down with both simultaniously in order to severely damage the opponent. Limit: Kyojinsame Genkotsu.
Hand Clap Rank: C Skill: Taijutsu Effect: The user brings their hands together with such force, that they create a shockwave. This shockwave will knockback most struck by it. This attack may also disorintate those hit by it due to the shockwaves effect on the inner ear. Special: None Drawback: Causes no damage. Mainly used as a defensive measure and to disrupt thrown projectiles. Description: After gathering sufficent chakra within ones hands, the user spreads their arms far apart then slams them together, causing a wide shockwave to spread out from infront of them. The wave is fifteen feet wide and reaches out twenty feet. Limit: Kyojinsame Genkotsu.
Death Valley Bomb Rank: C Skill: Taijutsu Effect: Torasame grabs his opponent then lifts them over his shoulders. Using his superior strength to hold them in place, he then turns them, throwing them downwards, driving the opponent's head into the ground with devestating force. Special: None Drawback: Must actually catch and grab the opponent. Usually used once the opponent has been tired out and cannot sufficiently fight back. A very, very slow technique as the user must concentrate their chakra to not only keep their opponent in place, but to also drive them down into the ground with maximum force. Description: Grabbing their opponent, the user then lifts them up over their shoulders and forcefully falls in the direction of the opponents head, driving them head first into the ground with a massive force. Extremely slow yet extremely damaging if correctly applied. Limit: Kyojinsame Genkotsu.
Knockout Blow Rank: B Skill: Taijutsu Effect: This extremely powerful attack focuses all your strength into a single fisted punch. This attack hits with such force that it guarantees the opponent will be knocked and have severe internal and external damage if struck. Special: None Drawback: Takes about five seconds to gather chakra into the fist before striking. Description: The user slowly rotates their lower arm as they gather an obscene amount of chakra into one fist. So much chakra, infact, that its actually visible! A transparant blue orb that resembles fire radiates around three inches from the hand. After winding up their attack for about five seconds, they suddenly strike their opponent, fist moving extremely swiftly and causing catastrophic damage. The user attacks with such a force that it usually damages the land within a 30 foot radius of the user. Limit: Kyojinsame Genkotsu.
Fist of Nirvana Rank: A Skill: Taijutsu Effect: The user focuses chakra into their legs then uses it to jump extremely high into the air. While ascending the user begins to gather the maximum amount of chakra into their right fist. Once gathered, the user uses their momentum to shift in mid air and begins a dive bomb upon their opponent. As they descend they focus some chakra into their feet in order to propel them forward at an even faster rate. Once the fist connects with the ground or opponent it's as if a bomb is set off and a massive explosion ensues. Special: None Drawback: This jutsu, while extremely powerful, also harms the user. While they will not take brunt of the attack they will indeed take a good portion of it which can pretty much end the battle for the user depending on their level of skill in the medical area. Since this attack costs a great amount of chakra it is recommended to only use it in the most desperate of situations. Description: While the user descends upon the target it looks as though their entire body is engulfed in a holy flame. It is even said that Zeus himself can be seen from within the flame, attacking with the same motion as the user. Truly an awe inspiring yet frightful sight... Limit: Kyojinsame Genkotsu

Pre-Torasame Arc
Torasame’s father, Gen Hoshigaki was a powerful Shark Priest from Kirigakure, who fell in love with a beautiful girl named Rei Takamatsu. The other Shark Priests forbid marriage outside the clan, so they both left the village and went missing. They returned 2 years later with Rei highly pregnant, and seeking forgiveness. Although Gen was accepted back in the clan, the other Shark Priests did not allow him to be one again, and tortured him for his betrayal of the clan and the village, giving him scars all over his body. Two weeks later, Rei gave birth to a young boy and because of a very exhausting birth she died. However, the little boy’s health was not in good condition, and the medical ninjas did not know how to help him. Eventually, Gen asked the Shark Priests to perform The Ritual on him. The Priests agreed, but they told him that he would have to get the requirements for The Ritual himself. So he ventured into the sea, searching for the strongest shark that would make his boy survive. Upon his return, he was missing his left arm, and over his shoulder, a white shark was stretching to the ground. The Priests performed The Ritual, and the young boy’s physical condition got better, but his mental state suffered severe damage, although nobody could see it at that young age. Eventually the boy would be named Shirosame.
Roughly a year after Shirosame’s birth was when the mystical Sages visited the ninja world. While the Hoshigaki clan may have been wide spread prior to their arrival, the following clash and resulting wars thinned their numbers greatly. The remaining Hoshigaki’s in other villages round the world soon faded from existence, it was discovered that they indeed has issues reproducing in dry climates, and with their numbers as small as they were, it was fated that they would die. Back in Kirigakure however, Gen and a small number of other Hoshigaki’s still existed, the priest sect having vanished as well however. Striving to keep the clan alive, Gen wedded and impregnated what would be Torasame’s mother, Keshousame. Nine months later, Torasame was born.
The Academy Arc
Growing up, Torasame was kept in the shadow of his older brother. It was not as if the young Hoshigaki minded, in truth he loved his brother, very dearly. After all, the weight of the Hoshigaki clan’s fate was riding on the shoulders of the two brothers, and as such, Torasame was fine with being out of the spotlight. Besides, it seemed with all that pressure on Shirosame that the boy was about to snap. Sure enough, Shirosame was discovered to have psychosis, it was then that all attention left Torasame. Even Tora wanted his brother to get better though. While the family toiled with Shirosame’s condition, Tora began his training, knowing that if Shirosame couldn’t continue on, he would have to. Pushing himself harder then ever, Tora began a physical training regime a full year before he was even the appropriate age to enter the academy.
Now while the academy in Kirigakure runs just like any other academy now, they still have a specific rule for the Hoshigakis, no ritual, no graduation. It was the Hoshigaki’s that could not perform their ritual that became the Shark Priests so often heard of. Having entered the academy at the age of five, Torasame spent two years practicing for the required test that would allow him to take the ritual, jealous that his brother was not being put through such tasks. It would not be until later in his life that Torasame understood the ideals behind the ritual, and the real reason Shirosame had such terrible mental disorders.
To Hunt a Hunter Arc
Finally, the day had come when Torasame would be turned upon the sea to find his shark, and his shark teeth. Typically, this meant he had to kill two sharks, but as the clan was suffering at the moment, having lost several more priests the teeth came as a gift from his father, who, for once in Tora’s life, was giving his son respect.
Standing on the edge of a low seaside cliff, Torasame sighed. His entire family was behind him, even multiple academy teachers. Readying the two daggers he held, Tora looked down to see the sea misting the rocks below him. Slowing his breathing down, he leaped. Diving beneath the surface, Tora passed plenty of smaller sharks, nurse and frilled, but that wasn’t what he was looking for. With determination in his eyes, Torasame was hunting a shark worth sharing a body with. As the thoughts passed through his head, he found it. It was a single tiger shark, feasting upon a killed sperm whale. The sight was amazing, how this shark had managed to down a fully grown whale without hunting in a pack was simply awe-inspiring. Knowing this hunter of the sea was distracted, it was simply a matter of placing his daggers just beneath the gills, and holding on.
Not even fifteen minutes after his dive, Torasame returned with the tiger shark, strung across both shoulders, his body buckling under its weight. Without a moment of hesitation, the Priests snapped both of them up, carrying them away to the Temple. Tora never even had the chance to see his family before he left.
The Mindset of the Beast Arc
Spending a full day sitting in a seal was the last thing Torasame had in mind when it came to the Ritual of the Shark, but preparations needed to be made, and Tora needed to remain still. Spending his time gazing upon the dead beast now laid out in front of him, Torasame could not get over it’s raw energy, the energy that would soon be endowed within him. As the ritual came close to commencement, Torasame was overflowing with anticipation. A few hand seals later, and his mind fell into the Illusory world.
As his mind began to take form, Torasame soon realized this illusory world was set under water. Anticipation was soon replaced with Anxiety, he could feel something moving. It was then that his shark form appeared before him, a fearsome creature, but nothing the likes Torasame hadn’t seen before. Without so much as speaking a word to each other, the battle began. For what felt like days Torasame was locked into the losing end of this fight. He did not tire due to where he was, but neither did his opponent. His shark form was faster, stronger, and more fierce. There was little Torasame could do, at his wit’s end, he submitted. With this, his shark form smiled, and the illusory world was gone.
Waking up nearly two weeks later, Torasame opened his eyes to find immediate changes. He had grown, nearly a foot, his skin had became a dark blue, and as he laughed in joy, he could feel his breath rushing through fangs instead of teeth. Somehow, he had succeeded. It was not until the priests told him that it was by submitting to you shark form, and know it was the better of the two of you that the ritual could be completed. While acknowledging his valiant effort to defeat himself, they reminded him to never tell anyone who had not completed the ritual of it’s secrets. With the ritual over, Torasame returned home with a prideful smile. When he arrived however, his mother bore news of another pregnancy, and while Torasame’s success was celebrated, it was short, his conquest having been deflated by his mother’s announcement.
Alone Again Arc
While Torasame may have had great success, his genin years were also over shadow by the upbringing of his new sister, Togisame. While his genin years were prosperous, the rest of the clan’s attention was still divided between dealing with their own elimination and trying to raise their own offspring. During this period of time, even Shirosame, the half-blood prodigy fell away from the limelight. This did however give Torasame some opportunities, including traveling abroad with his new team. While Shirosame and Togisame remained in the village for the protection of the clan, Tora was given the chance to visit the northern regions of the land of lightning. Spending close to a year there, the cold-blooded Hoshigaki vowed never to return, as he was very far from his element, all of his Suiton techniques freezing in the cold weather and doing him little. This also allowed Tora to focus on other aspects, such as his Doton techniques, which were virtually capable of use anywhere, as well as his sword play. Having to rely on these two secondary aspects to his talent, Torasame became even more proficient.
Returning to the village at the age of ten, Torasame passed that year’s round of Chuunin Exams, giving him the option to lead his own team. Although grateful, Torasame declined, choosing to spend more time with his family, hoping to establish a better bond there. For awhile, things seemed to be going well, even Shirosame’s mental outbursts had apparently calmed. However, on Torasame’s fourteenth birthday, Shirosame disappeared. The Hoshigaki clan was crushed, and it was now that all eyes were on Torasame.
Brotherless Arc
The pressure was certainly increased on Torasame’s remaining chuunin years. The family itself was torn between him succeeding as a ninja, and him staying home for the sake of the continuation of the clan. With this reality constantly pressing upon him, it took all of what Torasame was to simply keep a level head. The mindset of a shark was not easily contained and amongst his own turmoil Torasame began to understand what may have happened to his brother, and why the Ritual of the Shark was only given to those who earned it. This also gave Tora a higher appreciation for what his brother had gone through, and perhaps even an understanding as to why Shirosame left. In his heart, Tora knew his brother was alive, and well. Or at least as well as Shirosame could be.
Managing a promotion to Jounin at the age of seventeen Torasame had managed to feel pretty good about himself. It was then that the Hoshigaki elders decided he really wasn’t going to stop his dreams for anything. At that point, the last remaining Shark Priest took Torasame to the temple where he began to undergo Hoshigaki clan training, as well as a whole new level of Kenjutsu training revolving around a small katana, rather then an extremely large weapon. While the clan was happy for Torasame, it seemed the middle child would never remain the star of the show, as only a year later, at the age of eighteen, Shirosame returned.
Underdog To Date Arc
Spending the next six years doing nothing but training, seeing and hearing little from his family, despite how curious he was. He had heard rumors, Shirosame was now a special jounin, and even his younger sister Togisame was a relatively experienced chuunin at the age of fifteen. It seemed the Hoshigaki clan was once again on top, this fact only being affirmed the the fact that Shirosame was eventually promoted to Mizukage, at an early age of twenty-four. An amazing feat it was, Togisame was then promoted later that year to jounin. Two years later, Torasame completed the remainder of his training, and was endowed with Ushio-Waru, or Rip-Tide, a legendary blade passed down through the Hoshigaki clan. As he left the temple, his brother Shirosame immediately appointed him as one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, a very honourable title endowed to special and talented nin alone. While Torasame knew it was mainly because of their brotherhood, the fact remained that he was still an incredible skilled nin.
It was with the Seven Swordsman that Torasame met Hybris Kinkotsu no Kaguya, an equally skilled nin, with all the advantages that the Shikosumyato endowed. She certainly was an adequate rival, and with that initial spark of conflict came an endearment to each other. While they didn’t always necessarily get along, they had the same passions for each other, and decided to start dating. Torasame believed he had found the one; she was even willing to over look his appearance after all. Where everyone else saw a monster or something hideous, she saw something worth loving. Unfortunately, it ended poorly, Shirosame intervening and Hybris going over the deep end. Eventually, Shirosame was killed by none other then the Kaguya herself, Shirosame's sword now all that remains of the great white shark. Torasame hunts for Hybris to this day.
