Investigation by Hinata

An attack which occured earlier on the day on Hinata's team, when the team was training. Ryuku who were in the water, suddenly, got cuts all over his body. Ryuku had to be transfered to the hospital. In the hospital it was stated that the cuts were made by an enemy ninja. Hinata reported it to the hokage straight away, hence got the mission to investigate the attack.

Hinata is standing at the gate to the training area, where the attack took place.
"I seem to be the first one here." Hinata relaxes, she cannot do anything alone anyway. She'll wait for the others.
"I must find the one who hurt Ryuku."

hi Hinata, you wanted my help?

"Yes, thanks for comming on a such short notice!" Hinata pulls up her key chain and unlocks the gate.
"It's hard to believe that an enemy attack took place right under my nose, without me noticing anything." Hinata starts to walk toward the scene.

i'm sure you took the utmost care, hinata. let's see what we have to work on.

After walking 100 meters (300 feet) through a field of high grass and lots of big rocks, they arrive to the scene. It's a small river, it's here where Ryuku were swimming. On the other side of the river is a dense forest enviroment.
"Here is the place. The ninja were never seen, he was beneath water surface the whole time." Hinata points at the water.
"Perhaps we can find any items he may have dropped."
"Leave it to me! Byakugan!" Hinata scans the water for metal objects. No metal objects around here.. She moves her sight further up streams.. only water and sand.. nothing abnormal..A kunai! Hinata zooms closer, it's rosty, it has been here a while. She continues moving further up in the stream.
"How long is this river?"

i think it goes on to a lake further up.....maybe the nin left some sort of clue there???

"There is nothing in the water... Pehraps I try on the surface.." Hinata using her eye on the enviroment around the river. Woods...woods... woods.. grass..sand..footsteps.. fish skeletons...
"There is nothing in upstreams." Hinata cancels her Byakugan.
"The question which I find more curious about is where were he heading?" Hinata reactives her byakugan to check where the river leads. She follows the river with her byakugan.
"The river divides multiple times!" Hinata deactives her Byakugan and pulls up a map of the village area.

one of the splits in the river is a dead end so that's a no....

"and this one..." Hinata points at a point on the map. "...leads to the center of the village. Could he be...." Hinata looks troubled.
